Safety Council

Real members helping shape how Arc keeps everyone safe.

Real members helping shape how Arc keeps everyone safe.

The Safety Council is a group of members who advise Arc on safety policy, review how our rules work in practice, and represent the community's voice in decisions about moderation and protection.

When it starts

The Safety Council activates once Arc reaches 1,100 members. Until then, the safety team runs policy directly and prepares the council's remit.

Who is on it

The council has seats for everyday community members, independent safety experts, and younger adults, so that decisions reflect the whole community and not just one group.

What the council does

  • Reviews and advises on safety and moderation policy
  • Looks at anonymised patterns in reports and appeals
  • Recommends improvements to protections for women, younger adults and vulnerable members
  • Helps shape our transparency reporting

What the council does not do

The council does not see your private messages and does not decide individual moderation cases. Day to day moderation is handled by the safety team under the policies the council helps shape.

Taking part

When the council opens, we will invite expressions of interest from members. Watch your notifications and the Safety Centre for details.
