Terms of Service

Version 1.0 · Effective 27 July 2026 · Arc Social Ltd

These Terms govern your use of Arc. They are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the English courts have exclusive jurisdiction (subject to Section 20).

1. Who we are

Arc is operated by Arc Social Ltd, registered in England and Wales. Arc is a Community Operating System platform.

2. Eligibility

You must be 18 or over to use Arc. This is a hard requirement, and there is no under-18 tier. Age is verified, not self-declared: Arc operates age-assurance measures and may require you to confirm your age with an age-estimation check or an identity document provided through our verification partners. One account per person. Previously banned users may not create accounts. We may suspend or remove, without notice, any account we reasonably believe belongs to someone under 18, and we may require proof of age.

3. Your account

You must provide accurate information. One phone number per account. You are responsible for the security of your account. Arc reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that breach these Terms.

4. Platform as intermediary

Arc is a platform and marketplace. Arc is NOT a party to user transactions, a seller, an employer, an employment agency, a bank, a financial institution, an event organiser, a publisher, or a creator of user content.

Arc's liability for user generated content is limited by the E-Commerce Regulations 2002 Regulation 19 and the Defamation Act 2013 Section 5. Arc is not responsible for content posted by users provided Arc acts as a neutral host and removes content when properly notified.

Arc is not responsible for: the quality, safety, legality or delivery of goods and services between users; the conduct of users meeting in person; the outcomes of employment or hire relationships formed through the Platform; the accuracy of event listings; or financial or medical advice given by users through the Platform.

Total liability cap: Arc's total liability for any claim shall not exceed the greater of (a) the total fees paid by the user to Arc in the preceding 12 months or (b) £100. Arc is not liable for indirect, consequential, incidental, special or punitive damages.

Nothing in these Terms limits Arc's liability for death or personal injury arising from Arc's negligence, for fraud, or for any liability that cannot be excluded by law.

5. Content ownership and licence

Users retain ownership of all content they post. Users grant Arc a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to display and distribute their content on the Platform. This licence ends when the content is deleted. Arc's branding, design and software are owned by Arc Social Ltd.

6. Prohibited conduct

  • Illegal activity under English law or the law of your country of residence.
  • Harmful content: hateful, threatening, harassing, defamatory or obscene material.
  • Child sexual abuse material: ZERO TOLERANCE. Immediate account termination and immediate reporting to the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF), the National Crime Agency (NCA), the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) and relevant law enforcement authorities without exception.
  • Terrorism and incitement to violence.
  • Spam and automated access.
  • Impersonation.
  • Non-consensual intimate images.
  • Doxxing (sharing private personal information without consent).
  • Platform integrity attacks (hacking, reverse engineering, DDoS).
  • Circumvention of safety features including age verification, profanity filters or blocking systems.

7. Content moderation

Automated filters apply to all content. Reported content is reviewed by a human within 24 hours as standard, and within 1 hour for critical reports. Appeals may be sent to legal@thearcsocial.com within 30 days. Arc's decision on appeal is final.

8. Profanity and abusive language

Arc operates an automated profanity filter covering abusive, hateful and harmful terms across all 28 languages supported by the Platform. The filter covers racial slurs, sexual harassment terms, death threats, homophobic and transphobic slurs, religious hate speech, grooming language, and common variations and misspellings in all supported languages. First offence: warning. Repeated violations: escalating restrictions up to permanent ban and law enforcement referral.

9. Payments and subscriptions

Stripe processes all payments. Arc does not store payment card details. Account type (personal, business, organisation, creator) and subscriptions are separate: holding a business account does not by itself grant access to a paid feature, and the matching subscription must be active. Founder accounts include every plan at no charge. Reading, watching, applying to jobs, attending events, buying, following and messaging are always free and never require a subscription.

Each feature has its own subscription. Monthly prices, with the effective price per 28 days when billed annually, are: Creator Plus 4.99 (annual 3.84); Arc Dating 12.99 (9.99) and Arc Dating Premium 24.99 (19.22); Arc Rishta 14.99 (11.53) and Arc Rishta Premium 39.99 (30.76); Marketplace Standard 14.99 (11.53) and Marketplace Pro 34.99 (26.92); Arc Events Standard 14.99 (11.53) and Arc Events Pro 29.99 (23.07); Arc Jobs Standard 14.99 (11.53) and Arc Jobs Pro 29.99 (23.07); Arc Hire Standard 14.99 (11.53) and Arc Hire Pro 29.99 (23.07); Arc Bookings Standard 14.99 (11.53) and Arc Bookings Pro 29.99 (23.07); Arc Fundraise Standard 9.99 (7.68); Arc Wallet Pro 4.99 (3.84); Arc Hub Standard 19.99 (15.38). All prices are in pounds sterling. Annual plans are billed once a year at thirteen 28-day periods.

  • Monthly subscriptions are billed every 28 days and auto-renew unless cancelled. No refund; cancel anytime, access continues until the period end.
  • Annual subscriptions: full refund within 28 days of purchase, no refund after 28 days, access continues until the period end.
  • You can cancel any subscription at any time from the Subscriptions page; cancellation stops future renewals and does not remove access already paid for.
  • Arc Credits are virtual platform currency, not cryptocurrency, with no cash value, non-refundable and non-transferable outside the Platform.
  • Peer-to-peer transfers are facilitated through Stripe Connect. Arc is not a party to transfers and is not responsible for failed or disputed transfers.

10. Shop and marketplace terms

Sellers are solely responsible for listing accuracy, product quality and safety, legal compliance, dispatch and returns.

Prohibited items include illegal items, counterfeit goods, weapons, controlled substances, alcohol without licensing, tobacco, adult content, live animals, dangerous goods, and items infringing intellectual property rights.

International sellers (India, Pakistan, UAE, Canada, Australia and all other countries) are solely responsible for compliance with their own country's export laws, tax obligations including GST/VAT, and consumer protection requirements. Arc is not responsible for customs duties, import taxes or delivery delays on international shipments. Buyers are responsible for import duties in their country.

Consumer rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 (for UK buyers) are against the seller, not Arc.

Arc Marketplace has four tiers with different limits and fees. Free: up to 10 product listings, 2 images per product, 8% processing fee per sale. Standard: up to 50 listings, 3 images per product, 5% fee, CSV bulk upload. Pro: up to 100 listings, 8 images per product, 3% fee, CSV bulk upload plus Shopify and WooCommerce sync. Enterprise (activated by Arc on request): unlimited listings, 15 images per product, 1.5% fee. Processing fees are deducted from each sale. Product and image limits are enforced when listings are created.

CSV import lets Standard tier and above bulk-create listings from a spreadsheet; sellers remain responsible for the accuracy of imported data. Shopify and WooCommerce integrations (Pro and Enterprise) sync products and inventory between the connected platform and Arc. Arc is not responsible for third party platform API downtime, changes or errors. Arc will attempt to sync inventory changes (including decrementing stock on a connected platform after an Arc sale) but cannot guarantee real-time accuracy; where a sync fails, Arc retries and, if it still cannot complete, notifies the seller to update inventory manually. Sellers are responsible for keeping stock levels accurate across all their sales channels.

11. Jobs and hire terms

Arc is not a recruitment agency. Any employment or service contract is between the parties directly. The Arc Verified badge indicates identity verification only, not endorsement of professional qualifications. Employers are responsible for their own due diligence. Listings for regulated professions must hold appropriate licences.

12. Events terms

Event organisers are solely responsible for event safety, licensing compliance, insurance, accurate description, honouring tickets and refunding if the event is cancelled.

13. Bookings terms

Booking businesses are solely responsible for the services they provide, professional insurance and health and safety compliance. Medical and health practitioners must hold appropriate qualifications and registrations.

14. Fundraising terms

Campaign organisers are responsible for the accuracy of campaigns, the use of funds and charity law compliance where applicable. Gift Aid misrepresentation is reported to HMRC. Arc is a platform, not a charity.

15. Creator and content terms

Creators are responsible for all content compliance. Subscription creators must deliver content consistently. Subscribers are entitled to a refund if a creator fails to deliver for 30 consecutive days. Verified journalists are bound by accuracy and ethics standards.

16. Age assurance and under-18 accounts

Arc is an adults-only platform for people aged 18 and over. We apply age-assurance measures at sign-up and may ask you to verify your age with an age-estimation check or an identity document. If we reasonably believe an account belongs to someone under 18, we suspend it and ask the person to verify that they are 18 or over. If they cannot, we remove the account and delete its data. To prevent immediate re-registration, a removal is recorded against a one-way hash of the identity document used, and that block lifts automatically on the person's eighteenth birthday. Where a removed account had used Arc Dating or Arc Rishta, we carry out a safeguarding review.

17. Data protection

Personal data is processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy and in compliance with UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, EU GDPR, CCPA (California), the Australia Privacy Act 1988, India DPDPA 2023 and Pakistan PECA 2016.

18. Law enforcement cooperation

Arc cooperates fully with valid legal process from any jurisdiction globally, including court orders, warrants, subpoenas and equivalent instruments. User data, account information, activity logs, messages and transaction records are disclosable under valid legal process. Arc will notify affected users where legally permitted. Where an imminent risk of harm exists, Arc will proactively contact emergency services without waiting for legal process. Arc will not protect users engaged in illegal activity. Victims with a valid court order requiring disclosure of a perpetrator's identity should contact legal@thearcsocial.com with legal documentation; Arc will comply promptly and fully.

18a. Verification services

Professional verification is 49 per year and matrimonial verification is 79 per year. Your card is authorised when you apply and charged when we approve. A verified badge confirms that we checked a supporting document or identity at the time of approval. It is not a guarantee of quality, income, background or conduct, and is not professional, legal or medical advice. We may remove a badge if information is found to be false. Verification renews annually and can be cancelled at any time.

18b. Protected speech and prohibited hatred

Arc protects political expression, including criticism of any government and advocacy for peaceful political movements and self-determination such as Khalistan. Arc has zero tolerance for identity-based hatred, incitement to violence, terrorism and coordinated hate. Criticising a government is permitted; attacking people because of who they are is not.

18c. Medical and traditional-remedy content

Content that makes health, medical or traditional-remedy claims carries a disclaimer that it is not medical advice. Users must not present such content as a substitute for professional care. Content that risks serious harm is removed.

18e. Dating and Matrimonial subscriptions

Arc Dating and Arc Rishta (matrimonial) are paid subscription products, available only to users aged 18 and over. Before either can be activated, you must confirm on screen that you are 18 or older; providing false information about your age violates these Terms and may result in permanent account suspension and reporting to the relevant authorities. Members under 18 cannot access these features and see them clearly marked as available at 18. Arc Dating is 12.99 per month (or an annual plan), and Arc Dating Premium is 24.99 per month. Arc Rishta is 14.99 per month, and Arc Rishta Premium is 39.99 per month. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled and can be cancelled at any time. Photos must be your own and appropriate; matching is based on mutual likes (dating) or mutual expressions of interest (matrimonial). Opening messages are limited and images cannot be sent before both people have engaged. Matrimonial profiles display a verification summary; verification badges confirm only what was checked at approval and are not a guarantee. Safety tools, including a safety briefing, share-my-plans and quick exit, apply throughout.

18f. Calls

Arc offers audio, video and group calls, provided using Daily.co as our processor. Calls are permitted only between members who are connected on Arc; you cannot call, and cannot be called by, someone you are not connected with. Group calls are limited to the members of the relevant group conversation. Arc does not record calls. Recording a call, in whole or in part, without the informed consent of every participant is prohibited and may be unlawful; doing so is a violation of these Terms and may result in suspension. You are responsible for your conduct on calls, which remains subject to our prohibited-conduct and community rules. Calls require a working device, camera/microphone permissions and an internet connection, and may be unavailable if a call cannot be established.

18d. Community notes, Safety Council and transparency

Members may add community notes for context; notes appear only after broad-based helpful ratings. A member Safety Council advises on safety policy and activates at 1,100 members. Arc publishes transparency reports twice a year.

19. Changes to terms

We give 30 days notice of material changes by email or in-app notification. Continued use constitutes acceptance.

20. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, with the English courts having exclusive jurisdiction. This is subject to carve-outs for EU mandatory consumer rights, Australian Consumer Law, the Indian Consumer Protection Act 2019, and Pakistani consumer and data protection law. An informal dispute resolution attempt is required before legal proceedings: contact legal@thearcsocial.com for a 14-day response.
