Community notes

Helpful context added by the community, shown when it is genuinely useful.

Community notes let members add context to a post, for example a correction, a source, or a safety warning. Notes are rated by other members and only appear when enough people from different viewpoints agree they are helpful.

How a note is added

1. On a post, open the menu and choose Add a community note.
2. Write a short, factual note. Add a link if you have a reliable source.
3. Submit it. Your note starts as proposed and is not shown yet.

How notes get shown

Other members rate proposed notes as helpful or not helpful. A note is only shown publicly once it has earned enough helpful ratings from a broad range of people. Notes that are not found helpful stay hidden. This keeps notes useful rather than one sided.

What notes are for

• Correcting a clear factual error
• Adding a reliable source or missing context
• Flagging a safety concern

What notes are not for

• Personal attacks or insults
• Advertising or spam
• Restating an opinion as a fact

Notes follow the same community standards as everything else on Arc. Abuse of the notes system can lead to losing access to it.
